TOREROS REIGN OVER WCC
Champions On and Off the Field
McKenna Braegelmann, senior pitcher and team captain for USD's softball team, has been named the 2024 WCC Champion of Change, a testament to her unwavering advocacy for mental health and her leadership both on and off the field.
Braegelmann has used her platform to raise awareness and break down stigmas as the Mental Health and Wellness Chair, in addition to her commitment to academic excellence, serving as a scholar-athlete representative on the USD Board of Trustees Athletic Committee.
Joining Braegelmann in the spotlight is Angelo Peraza.
Angelo Peraza, a standout senior utility player, had an exceptional 2024 season, earning recognition on the 2024 WCC All-Tournament Team and WCC All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year. He was named the 2024 WCC Mike Gilleran Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes Peraza's exceptional accomplishments in baseball, academics, and community service.
Peraza, a two-time Presidential Honor Roll honoree, maintained his presence within the San Diego community by volunteering his time with the Imperial Beach Little League and the Tecolote Youth League.
Together, Braegelmann and Peraza represent the best of what it means to be a Torero – champions on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. This is a reminder that true success for athletes is measured not just by wins and losses, but by the lasting impact they left on those around them.

The University of San Diego has etched its name in West Coast Conference history once again, claiming the coveted Men's All-Sports Award for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
This monumental achievement marks the fourth time the Toreros have stood atop the podium due to their unrelenting pursuit of excellence across multiple sports.
This resounding victory was fueled by a series of remarkable performances by the Toreros' athletic programs.
USD's baseball, golf, soccer, and tennis teams achieved an unprecedented feat, emerging victorious and claiming the coveted WCC championships in their respective sports during the same triumphant season.
This All-Sports Award not only celebrates their past achievements but also sets the stage for future triumphs, as USD continues to pursue athletic excellence on the national stage.

OUR ALL-AMERICAN

In a remarkable season that saw him rise to national prominence, Oliver Tarvet, a sophomore on the men's tennis team, has forever left his name in the program's record books. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association bestowed upon Tarvet the prestigious honor of being named an All-American in singles.
The first Torero to earn All-American honors since August Holmgren accomplished the feat in 2022. Tarvet's inclusion in this group elevates him to the ranks of the 14th All-American in the history of San Diego's storied tennis program.
He consistently ranked among the nation's top-10 players throughout the season. His exceptional performance on the court was further recognized when he was named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Year.
The pinnacle of Tarvet's season came when he qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship for the first time in his collegiate career. This collegiate tennis phenom's remarkable rise has set the stage for a professional career poised to redefine the boundaries of greatness.
BANKING MADE SIMPLE.
Propelling Toreros' Championship Caliber
Three years after NIL earning was first permitted by the NCAA, the perception surrounding this policy continues to remain varied. NIL allows high school and college athletes to be compensated for the use of their name, image, and likeness by companies, university collectives, and others.
NIL alone has greatly intensified the competition to recruit and retain top talent.
These NIL offers are utilized by coaches, via collectives, to entice athletes to attend specific institutions which entails a decision that could have a large impact on the trajectory of the athlete’s life.
For USD athletes, many aspire to become or remain Toreros. The ability to receive NIL offers through the Olé Foundation, allowing those offers to compete with offers from collectives at other schools, is of paramount importance.
While the university continues to strive for Conference and National Championships, achieving these goals becomes significantly more challenging without competitive NIL resources. This is where the Olé Foundation comes into play.
Contributing to the Olé Foundation will elevate USD’s performance from good to great by providing the crucial resources needed to attract and retain top-tier athletes, positioning the Toreros' athletic programs for sustained success at the highest levels of competition. Your contributions are important!
