Olé Foundation Celebrates One Full Year of Greatness
Thank You for Our First Successful Year, Men's Golf Journeys to NCAA Championship, Student Athletes Honored at the President's Luncheon, and USD Baseball's Season Comes to a Close
PAST, PRESENT, & FUTURE
One Year Since Inception
Since May of last year, our Olé Foundation has brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars through golf tournaments, events, individual donations, individual athlete activations, and corporate sponsorships.
Our USD teams mostly hadn’t had the benefit of NIL prior to the 2024-2025 season, so the progress that we have made in the past year is exponential.
I am proud of our 10-person Olé Foundation board of passionate USD supporters who have done valuable work in advancing NIL opportunities for our Torero student-athletes.
Olé Foundation has served an important role during a crucial time when our Torero athletic community needed us to bridge the gap until the university likely becomes able to pay athletes via NCAA-permissible revenue sharing later this year. Still not all athletes, or even all sports, are actively involved in receiving NIL payments. However, because of our loyal Torero supporters, we have built up resources that will allow us to maintain our elite programs while also aiding our Torero teams who are still ascending to greatness.

J.T. Rogan and New Basketball Addition Adrian McIntyre
We’re excited for the year ahead, especially for our Men’s Basketball team who will be welcoming talented transfers from all over the country. Playing in meaningful postseason competition is the standard that all of our Torero teams hold, and we are on the precipice of having the best season ever in Torero athletics history.
We hope to see you back on campus, in the stands, cheering on our great Torero teams in the coming 2025-2026 sports seasons.
Go Toreros!

STUDENT ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
USD Men’s Golf: Historic Season Culminates at NCAA Championship
The 2025 season will be remembered as a breakthrough year for USD men's golf, marking a triumphant return to the national stage under first-year head coach Evan Emerick.
After four years away, the Toreros earned their fifth NCAA Championship appearance, capping off a historic campaign.
The journey to nationals was nothing short of spectacular. USD captured three tournament titles: the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, The Prestige, and the Nick Watney Invitational, while adding impressive runner-up finishes at the Kapolei Invitational and R.E.L. Invitational. Two additional third-place showings at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and Wyoming Cowboy Classic demonstrated the team's consistent excellence throughout the season.
The Toreros punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship by finishing fourth at the NCAA Reno Regional. Ryan Abuan led the charge in the regional, firing a stellar one-under-par 215 to tie for 11th place, while five Toreros earned top-40 individual finishes to secure the team's advancement.
This marked USD's fifth consecutive postseason appearance, highlighting the program's sustained competitiveness. Under Coach Emerick's leadership, the Toreros have established a foundation for continued success, with multiple tournament victories and a return to the national championship stage after several years away.
The future looks bright for USD golf as they build on this historic season and the invaluable experience gained competing against the country's best collegiate programs.

The Conclusion of Torero Baseball: A Season of Determination
It was in Las Vegas where this team's dedication truly shone the brightest.
As the tournament's No. 1 seed, USD faced elimination in their semifinal against Saint Mary's—a game that would stretch 14 innings and last over five hours. With two outs in the bottom of the 14th, the season hanging by a thread, Aden Howard stepped into the batter's box with Adrian Beltre Jr. on second and Nico Libed on first.
Howard, who had delivered clutch moments all season long, launched his third home run of 2025 deep into the Las Vegas night—a three-run walk-off blast that sent the Torero dugout into euphoria and forced a winner-take-all championship game. It was Howard's second walk-off hit of the season and the perfect encapsulation of this team's fighting spirit.
During the final championship game, the Toreros only needed one more run in the ninth inning to tie the game, but fell to St. Mary’s in the end.
Despite the deciding championship game loss, the Torero team dedicated itself to a season of determination.
