Transformative Gift Marks New Chapter for Olé Foundation
Soccer's Season Comes to an End After a Tremendous Year, A Gift Changes the Course of the Olé Foundation and a Special Thank You to Our Supporters
PROPELLING USD ATHLETICS FORWARD
The Olé Foundation is thrilled to announce a landmark moment for USD athletics. A USD alum, longtime supporter, and USD Board of Trustees member made a six-figure gift that promises to significantly advance our NIL collective's mission and support for Torero student-athletes.
Executive Director JT Rogan expressed immense enthusiasm about this game-changing contribution, stating: "This donation really fires me up and our Olé Foundation board is pumped. We all care so deeply about Torero Athletics and we know how many people share our sentiments. While we all can't give six-figure gifts, we know the impact that will be made by substantial contributions to our NIL efforts.
This donation is a difference maker. And I have good news, this donor isn't done giving, and we have more six-figure gifts on the way from others. Torero Athletics is a sleeping giant. Please tell your fellow alums, friends, other San Diegans, innovators, and early adopters that the time to get on the Torero Athletics rocketship is NOW! Let's go! Go Toreros!"
This generous donation marks a pivotal moment for the Olé Foundation, signaling growing momentum and support for USD student-athletes. We are profoundly grateful for our donors' commitment and vision for the future of Torero Athletics.

A HISTORIC SEASON COMES TO AN END

The University of San Diego men's soccer team has etched an unforgettable chapter in the program's history, marking 2024 as a breakthrough year of exceptional achievement. Despite a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Vermont in the NCAA Tournament's Third Round, the Toreros' season stands as a testament to their remarkable skill.
"We created something special this year," said Forward Samy Kanaan. "We kept our heads down and grinded since July 25th. It's absolutely unbelievable that we managed to make it to the Sweet 16, something I hadn't imagined coming into this year."
Head Coach Brian Quinn reflected on the season's significance, noting its impact. "Our 2024 season was successful on many levels," Quinn said. "Reaching the furthest point in the Tournament since 2012 was truly special."
With a stellar 15-3-2 record and a perfect 7-1 performance in the West Coast Conference (WCC), the team shattered previous program records. They claimed their third consecutive WCC regular-season title, allowed just 14 goals throughout the season, secured ten shutout victories, and won two games in the NCAA Tournament.
Senior defender Ethan Warne captured the team's transformation, stating, "We went from being a losing program a few years ago to a top 3 national ranking school with back-to-back-to-back conference titles."
The season came to an end during a Sweet 16 match against Vermont, where a record crowd of 3,227 fans packed Torero Stadium, creating an electrifying atmosphere that underscored the program's growing popularity. It was the highest attended Third Round match of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, a testament to the incredible performances this team gave us each and every game.
With a young, talented roster and the momentum of this historic season, the Toreros are poised to continue their pursuit of excellence.

A HUGE THANK YOU!
We are thrilled to share some incredible news with our amazing Torero community! Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, the Fall Sports Athlete Contribution Campaign has not just met, but dramatically surpassed its initial fundraising goal.
We are proud to announce that we have raised an astounding $8,725 – a remarkable 174% of our original goal of $5,000!
Every dollar raised directly supports our student-athletes education and living expenses. This means our talented Toreros can focus on what matters most: excelling in both their academic studies and athletic pursuits. Whether it's the football team making plays on the field, soccer athletes defending our colors, or athletes from any fall sport representing USD, your support makes their journey possible.
To every donor, supporter, and Torero fan who contributed: THANK YOU. Your belief in our student-athletes is what makes the USD athletic community so extraordinary.
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
In a remarkable journey from student-athlete to international sports professional, Devin Moss '20 has carved out a unique career at the intersection of sports, business, and global policy. A former men's basketball player and graduate of USD's Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) program, Moss now serves as the International Mobility and Government Affairs Director at Jetr Global Sports + Entertainment.
During his time at USD from 2018-2020, Moss balanced intense academic pursuits with competitive athletics, experiencing a memorable highlight when the team was selected for the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). This moment of team celebration remains one of his most cherished memories from his collegiate years.
Moss credits his USD experience with teaching him critical professional skills, particularly how to effectively communicate with athletic administrators and boosters while showcasing the core strengths of student-athletes: teamwork and determination. His advice to current USD athletes is both inspiring and practical: don't limit your career aspirations. "Almost any job can be done in the sports industry," he emphasizes, encouraging students to think creatively about their professional paths.
Now an alumnus, Moss remains deeply connected to USD, following athletic programs on social media and attending games whenever possible. His journey demonstrates the versatile opportunities available to student-athletes who are willing to think beyond traditional roles.
To current and future Toreros, Moss offers a powerful parting message: embrace the self-belief that defines elite athletes and apply that confidence to all aspects of life. Go Toreros!
