STUDENT ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
Dom Muncey - A Torero Born and Bred
Growing up in Las Vegas, I never imagined the incredible path that would lead me to USD. When my family moved to San Diego, Cathedral Catholic High School became my basketball home. We were a powerhouse team, winning two championships and creating memories I'll always treasure.
USD has always been more than just a college choice for me. I'm the 23rd member of my family to attend this university - a legacy that runs deep in my blood. When I got accepted, I didn't hesitate. This was exactly where I belonged.
The road trips have been the heart of my college basketball experience. Traveling with teammates, sharing meals, living our dream - it feels just like my club basketball days, only better. My absolute highlight? Beating Pepperdine on a buzzer-beater at the WCC tournament, with my family and friends cheering me on. Those moments are why I play this game.
Although this season hasn't been what I expected, I’m doing my best to make the most of it. An injury sidelined me for the first time in my basketball career, making my senior year bittersweet. But I've learned to embrace our coach's "next play" mentality - staying resilient whether I'm missing a shot or facing a setback.
Now, I'm looking forward to the next chapter. I've applied for a master's in finance at USD, hoping to stay connected to the program Coach Lav is building. Basketball has been more than a game - it's been a journey of growth, resilience, and discovering my true potential.
I am truly thankful to everyone who has helped me along this journey, and I know that USD is the place I was always meant to be.
Best,
Dom Muncey

A Night of Torero Fun in Oklahoma City

Olé Foundation board member Graham Bennett, a USD Football alumnus, brought the Torero spirit to Oklahoma City on February 1st, hosting an exciting evening of NBA action.
Bennett, alongside University of San Diego leadership, welcomed USD alumni and community members to watch the Oklahoma City Thunder's dominant 144-110 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
Torero alums covering almost 50 years of University of San Diego greatness were in attendance on an evening that featured remarks from USD's President Dr. Jim Harris, Senior Director of Development for Academic Affairs Charles Bass, and Athletic Director Kimya Massey to our private audience.
The Bennett family provided tickets and hospitality suite access to the Torero community in attendance to watch the NBA's #1 seeded team in the Western Conference on a night that included a career night for OKC shooting guard Aaron Wiggins who scored 41 points.
A huge thank you to Graham for using the vehicle of basketball to further strengthen the Torero community. Go Toreros!
