USD Women’s Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Eight in Conference

The University of San Diego women's volleyball team delivered a statement this week, sweeping both Washington State and Seattle U to extend their perfect conference start to 8-0 and their overall win streak to eight matches.

Thursday night at Bohler Gym in Pullman, USD dominated Washington State in a commanding 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-19, 25-18). Senior outside hitter Nemo Beach led the charge with 19 kills, while the Toreros' defense out-blocked the Cougars 10-4. After Washington State jumped out to a quick 3-0 start, USD responded with an emphatic 8-0 run that set the tone for the evening. Isabel Clark sealed the victory with kills on consecutive set points to close out the second and third frames.

Saturday afternoon brought the first-ever WCC meeting between USD and Seattle U, and the Toreros made it memorable with a 3-1 victory (25-17, 25-10, 21-25, 25-20) at the Redhawk Center. Beach was once again unstoppable, leading all players with 21 kills and five service aces. The second set showcased USD's complete dominance as the Toreros fired at an incredible .579 clip while holding Seattle U to negative hitting.

Though the Redhawks fought back to take the third set, USD re-established control in the fourth behind balanced contributions from Ava Durgan and Isabel Clark. A Beach service ace capped the victory, securing the Toreros' eighth consecutive conference win.

With their perfect 8-0 conference record, USD sits alone atop the WCC standings and shows no signs of slowing down.

TORERO DOMINATION

No. 15 Toreros Deliver Back-to-Back Shutout Victories

When the No. 15 San Diego men's soccer team takes the pitch at Torero Stadium, opponents know they're in for a battle. This week, the Toreros (9-2-3, 3-1-1 WCC) proved exactly why their home field remains a fortress, dispatching both LMU and Seattle U in commanding 3-0 victories that sent a clear message to the rest of the conference.

Wednesday night's matchup against LMU (5-4-4, 1-1-2 WCC) saw Cesar Bahena continue his scorching form with his second brace in three matches. The dynamic connection between Bahena and Iain Wagner proved unstoppable, with Bahena saving his most spectacular moment to deliver a perfectly chipped penalty kick straight down the middle to complete his outstanding evening and notch the fourth game-winner of his USD career.

The Toreros weren't finished. Just three days later, they delivered another shutout performance against Seattle U (3-5-5, 1-2-2 WCC) in a match that showcased USD's offensive depth. Devin Zachry opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a perfectly placed shot off a brilliant ball from Josh Martinez. After rattling the crossbar from 35 yards out just minutes earlier, Zachry made sure his second opportunity counted. Steven Ramirez then took center stage in the match's final stretch, scoring a pair of late goals to seal the victory.

This perfect week at Torero Stadium keeps San Diego's home unbeaten streak alive and positions them just one point back of first place in the conference standings.

His dominance was so complete that only one opponent managed to reach four games in any set throughout the entire tournament.

Head coach Ryan Keckley praised Klaassen's outstanding performance in what proved to be a physically demanding tournament, noting his exceptional execution throughout the week.

The doubles championship belonged to the impressive tandem of sophomore Adrien Berrut and redshirt junior Lambert Ruland, who extended their undefeated season record to 6-0. The duo cruised through the bracket, with their closest set coming in a 7-5 semifinal victory, before claiming the title with their trademark complementary play.
